The United Nations is obviously a somewhat controversial organization, and I'm wondering what you think of it. Should it exist? What powers should it have, if any? How do you feel about the Security Council?

I support it, since it does the kinds of humanitarian and peacekeeping work that might not be done if not for the UN. It also, in theory, reduces the amount of warfare around the globe. However, I think it needs to be restructured. The Security Council has too much undeserved power, and if the UN is to do its job (serving the international community) properly, all its members either need an equal say or a say based on population size.

The UN in my view, is a good thing to have, ONLY if they all agree on something. Like for Iraq for example, only 3 nations went in wasn't it? Correct me if im wrong. Yet the UN is supposed to be there to make sure every little thing is done correctly and everyone agrees with it right?

It should be there but just improved greatly, they jsut need to sort out lots of issues that are between the current Nations, or scrub it, and have something out of Star Wars like 'World Council', coz sooner or later Aliens will be hovering over earth watching nukes fly all over the place, they'll jsut think 'F**k that, their doing our job!'. Earth is in a complete mess in my view, global warming on the rise and violence going with it.

But the political side of things has gone way out of proportion, i mean... the eurovision song contest. 'UK NO POINTS!' all because of Iraq, seriosuly, its a music contest!

Technically five nations went in I think, but only three of them had over 1,000 troops. Right now there are a lot of countries with some troops there, but some with as few as 4 people, according to wikipedia.

I don't think the UN should need everyone's approval, because that's basically impossible and nothing would get done. If the Security Council's power was eliminated, it would make it so there would be fewer wars probably, but right now the SC is making the UN halfway meaningless IMO. It just defeats the purpose.
