From what can be gathered as a non US resident it appears there is a huge problem with immigrants?
In the EU you do not require a visa to move to or work in a different country within the EU.
In my part of the UK there is a huge influx of Polish nationals (several thousand) and despite the laws and restrictions in place they are the preferred employment over UK residents, because they are cheaper to employ. Which is odd as we have a min wage law here.

The UK is having a depopulation issue isn't it though? That's what I thought anyway, maybe that was just Europe as a whole.

We are far from highly populated anyway, there are MANY outgoing UK residents. There is strong demand from OZ for "professionals" and this is catching the imagination of many UK residents. This doesnt change that for the working class employment level "incomers" are preferred to workers of Brittish nationality. Just wondered if this is the case in other countries?

Yeah that's what I thought, that you had a negative population growth.

I don't think nationality is an issue, but immigrants are usually willing to work for less money, which employers do prefer for obvious reasons.
